RCS Vocal Recital – Liberté
Join the Alexander Gibson Opera School from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in the first of three concerts throughout our season commemorating the 230th anniversary of the French Revolution and exploring the themes of Liberty, Equality, and Friendship. In this first concert, students from the Opera School will be performing a selection of songs and arias around the theme of liberty.

Le Nozze di Figaro

In a change to the traditional format of the spring scenes, we shall be presenting a potted version of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. Using a minimum of props, set and costume but much of the recitative and musical numbers, we shall explore in the intimate setting of the Opera Studio these amazing characters whom Mozart brought to life over 200 years ago accompanied by our opera repetiteurs.

To coincide with the 100th Anniversary of the World War I Armistice, these scenes will focus exclusively on operas whose subject is war with all its consequences: political and global, personal and human; showing both the best and worst of humanity.
